Mathematics Is Not 'White'


This is getting ridiculous.

The other day, I read how a math education professor claims that the traditional math curriculum is “white.”  I visited her university page to examine her C.V., along with the titles of papers she has published in obscure academic journals no serious person would bother to disassemble.  I discovered that her blossoming career seems hell-bent on challenging classic mathematics as bigoted because – gasp – it heralds such marvelous discoveries of the past two millennia such as the Pythagorean Theorem and the irrational (sic) π, codified by Greeks.  I know that Chinese discoveries of these same truths predate the Greeks, but most Westerners have shallow knowledge of that history.  No matter: Teaching these wonderful human discoveries, according to our lady professor, is “white.”  I never knew math cared about your skin pigmentation.  

I’m not shocked by this woman’s irritating polemic.  I saw this coming.  I have been in secondary education for over thirty years, and when I started my journey, I was required as part of my master’s degree from City College of N.Y. to endure a basket of “education” classes.  A few were dedicated to math instruction in the hardened high schools, and these happily addressed real problems I routinely encountered in my Morris H.S. (near Yankee Stadium) in a devastated quarter of the South Bronx.

But most of the other required education classes I took were silly.  My colleagues in the program agreed.  It was difficult accepting grandiose theories promoted by tenured and crusty professors who themselves had spent marginal time in classrooms with real kids before they escaped to a university education department post to evade the unruly mess.  For two years, every Tuesday and Thursday evening, for two hours, these professors feigned to instruct those of us who daily were front-line in this mangled field.

Math is not always easy for me, and I daresay it will never always be easy for anyone who ventures there.  Yet, of the many studies we rightfully include in a liberal arts curriculum, math generously rewards perseverance (we call it grit) and even humility – it rewards the courage to make mistakes and learn and grow from those errors while not blaming anything or anyone else when we fall short.

Mathematics is full of phenomenal problems, and the joy one feels after struggling and reaching a correct answer is dizzying.  It motivates us to strive again.  One of the modest beauties of this subject is how often a correct solution to a problem is discovered by a different route.  How many different proofs of the Pythagorean Theorem do you imagine have been found?  (More than you guess.)  This is the kind of diversity we should celebrate!  

Adding to the educational mess our lady professor’s views try to excuse, now we have the ludicrous decision by credentialed “experts” to amend requisites to becoming certified.  Recently, the NYC Board of Regents decided to loosen the certification process for new teachers, since not enough of their P.C. diversity quota were passing these qualifying tests.  Are we to believe that adults choosing the noble profession of teaching who cannot read, write, speak, or calculate to an established rigorous level (a level any parent expects) should be granted exemptions owing to some diversity goal?  Can’t jump over the bar?  Let’s lower it, then!  Problem solved.  

We have seen the consequences of such P.C. madness in other professions.  Just consider one example outside education: firefighters are expected to climb four flights of stairs carrying a heavy load of nasty, necessary rescue gear in a specific and short time limit.  What to do if an applicant for this heroic job cannot?  Most of us would say, “Sorry.  You don’t pass.”  Would our lady professor argue that the firefighter test is  “white”?  Or would she concede that fire doesn’t care about your race or gender or religion?  It just burns, maims, and kills indiscriminately.

Here in my new teaching adventure in China, I don’t encounter this P.C. nonsense.  Concerned parents approach me at conferences and other social occasions and first inquire what their child might do to improve.  They don’t point an accusing finger at me, or at my math test questions, and they certainly don’t claim that the subject is racist.  Indeed, in my long experience teaching international students, Chinese students are often the most determined and aggressive to succeed.  Where other students might devote 20 minutes to homework and give up when the going gets tough, these Chinese kids will not give up until it is all done.  Too clever by half, when stumped, they seek out older students for help.  

If we want to repair the many damages inflicted on the USA during the past generation, one place to start is math education.  Mathematics is a human devotion and cares not about any of the popular identity grievances.

I will grant that our lady math education professor is passionate, but I insist that she is grossly misguided.  Instead of blaming the difficulty of math on race, or culture, or gender, she ought to encourage her teachers in training to resolutely challenge every student to knuckle down and strive to learn as much math as he can – and watch them marvel afterward as many doors open widely to their dreams.

The Left's Long Goodbye


The left has endured two further body blows in recent weeks. The first, of course, is the revelation that the infamous” Russian “dossier” was ordered and paid for by Hillary and the DNC. The second is the fact that Tony Podesta was forced to stand down from his own lobbying firm.

These come on top of an entire year of disaster piled on disaster for the U.S. left – the 2016 election, the exposure of Harvey Weinstein and numerous other leftist Hollywood grandees as sexual criminals, the collapse of the effort to mainstream antiwhite sentiments through the NFL.

The American left is beginning to look like nothing other than a defeated army in its last weeks in the field – the Army of Northern Virginia in 1865, the German Imperial Army in 1918, or Hitler’s Wehrmacht in 1945. These armies, once considered invincible, were in the end frozen in posture of total defeat. They could scarcely make a single move. Everything they did led to another defeat. They were doomed, they knew it, and they had no way out.

The Steele dossier revelation puts Hillary and her staff in the sights of any capable lawyer, and also washes over Mueller, Rosenstein, and Comey, in the process rendering any effort at implicating the Trump administration nugatory. At this point, Robert Mueller is now more deeply implicated in collusion with Russia than the President, or, for that matter, any other Republican. Let me repeat that: the investigator in this case is more criminal than the suspects he is investigating. This is a situation that may well be unmatched in the at times bizarre history of this, the world’s oldest democracy. Nice going, Hillary.

The Tony Podesta resignation is more subtle but may be just as far-reaching in its effects. Most of the media has ignored it, but it may yet pay out the same level of dividends as the dossier revelation. In as clear a case of friendly fire as you will find, Podesta was caught as a direct result of the Democrat-created collusion investigation. He is even now awaiting indictment, and his resignation represents a clearing of the decks to face that eventuality. He may cut a deal, he may do time. Whatever the case, we can be sure of one thing: Tony is not going down alone. He is going to take some people with him.This also brings the spotlight awfully close to his brother John, an intimate associate of Mrs. Hillary. Neither of these clowns will be ordering pizza anytime soon.

All these developments have caused critical damage to the left. With Weinstein’s fall, a massive source of funding is gone. The NFL debacle has seriously embarrassed the left in the eyes of the working and middle class. The decree revelation is forcing Hillary, the DNC, and everyone associated with them – a number that amounts to hundreds if not thousands of people, all of them key active leftists – to expend time, effort, and money on lawyering up and preparing for the legal ordeals to come, at the expense of their campaigns to overthrow the Demon-lord Trump. Tony Podesta’s downfall has paralyzed another liberal dirty-trick shop, while his brother and alter-ego to Hillary stands frozen in place, waiting for the hammer to fall.

The interesting thing about this magnificent and promising state of affairs is that it owes little to the activities of the conservative opposition. In most of these cases, conservatives, whether the Northeast Corridor traditionals or the new heartland breed, have played little or no part. The Weinstein affair is an example of left-wing cannibalism, the tribesmen (or women, in this case) finally falling upon a weakened chief. The NFL disaster is a piece of idiocy in which half-bright athletes came out in “support” of an incompetent and royally stupid benchmate. The decree and the Podesta downfall are the result of the mills of Justice grinding slow but fine.

With few exceptions, most conservatives are occupying themselves with things like hatred of their fellow white Americans, insulting Donald Trump, or hallucinating left-wing Terminators lurking in the basement.

This leads us to ask – as we have asked a thousand times before – why is it so hard for conservatives to accept victory?

The internet/Tea Party cons are clutching at your pants leg, sobbing hysterically and shouting, “Don’t pay any attention… Weinstein… Hillary… it’s a ruse, a distraction… Antifa is coming… It’s too late! Can’t you see? Don’t you understand?”

The old guard, the Northeast Corridor crew, are sticking their thumbs into their waistcoats and saying, “My good fellow, a gentleman does not take advantage of the contretemps with which Mr. Weinstein and Mrs, Clinton find themselves afflicted… I believe you can find your own way out.”

It’s as if Grant decided not to take Richmond out of politeness, or the Allies called off the Amiens offensive to allow the Germans to pull back in good order, or if Ike decided to halt his forces at the Elbe. (Wait… let me think that one over…)

Conservatism has always had a problem with striking the killing blow. We’re told that our system requires political balance, that we need a loyal opposition to make our representative democracy work. We hear that it is neither Christian nor American to be vindictive. That it’s only politics, after all.

Many conservatives are already aiding the left in their bitter eagerness to bring down Donald Trump. How long before they start rescuing the left from the quicksand of its own making?

This is scarcely acceptable. One thing overlooked in the histories of the 20th century is how the “capitalist” West (to use their term) consistently rescued the Soviets from collapse. The Hoover mission of the early 20s to feed millions of starving Russians is understandable. Much less so is the fact that Soviet Russia was reindustrialized in the 20s and 30s by British and U.S. companies (the great “people’s” auto plant at Magnitogorsk was in fact built by Ford). Or unlimited Lend-Lease in WW II, in which hundreds of thousands of vehicles, millions of strategic items, and entire production runs of aircraft were handed over to Stalin. Or the “encouragement” of Western companies to sign deals during the Khrushchev thaw, or the endless subsidized grain sales to the USSR. All this largesse, much of it cost-free, was handed over to the Soviets while they preached revolution, funded revolutionary uprisings across the world, and ran espionage networks throughout the West. It continued until Ronald Reagan at long last said, “No more.” We know what happened after that. The impossible, simply put – the entire façade of Soviet tyranny disappearing within a matter of months, like frost beneath the sunrise.

Are we seeing the same thing recur with the American left? The record suggests as much. We have a golden opportunity to at least cripple this trash ideology. But little or nothing is being done to accomplish this.

What, exactly, is “loyal” about an opposition that has worked hand in glove with every enemy of the United States since the 1950s – the Soviets, the Viet Cong, Castro, the Sandinistas, the Jihadis? The actions of the American left led directly to the deaths of millions in the wake of the Vietnam War in the 1970s, to hundreds of thousands today in the Mideast following the kindergarten machinations of the Clinton-Power-Rice-Obama cabal. At the other end of the spectrum we have the hundreds dead along our own border thanks to the demented Fast and Furious operation.

Where does it end? What, exactly, is worth salvaging here? If the left does survive in this country with the aid of American conservatives, how will it be justified, as the number of deaths inevitably increases with the new technologies and methods of the coming millennium?

Jihad Rears Its Head Again, with Democrats Enabling


Tuesday in New York City, Sayfullo Saipov, a 29-year-old Uzbek immigrant and jihadist, plowed a rented truck into bicyclists and pedestrians, killing eight and seriously injuring “numerous” others.  The response from leading New York Democrats was sickeningly rote.  It was saturated with political correctness – hence, deceptive.  Deceptive, therefore cynical.  If not stopped, Democrats’ P.C. will keep killing Americans.

Democrats enable jihad on these shores.  Their worldview, policies, and steadfast denial of the long-term war being waged by Muslim fundamentalists are costing lives – San Bernardino, Orlando, now Manhattan, to name marquee attacks.  It puts Americans across the nation at risk daily.  It does so open-endedly.

Defeating the jihad means defeating Democrats, too.  Republicans forever express a desire for bipartisan solutions.  Surely there’s a way to unite with Democrats to counter and defeat this enemy!  Surely the hope is vain. 

The way to victory is to mobilize Americans other than Democrats against the jihad.  Social media and grassroots action allow pro-security and anti-jihad forces to bypass the mainstream media.  More is being done now on social media than at the grassroots.  It is time to step up grassroots efforts.  The alternative to the Democrats’ approach: clear vision, frank talk, tough policies, and relentless condemnation of the Democrats’ evasions and failures.  President Trump is showing the way.

New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, declared about Saipov’s attack, per the New York Post (emphasis added):

All the evidence we have is that he was a quote unquote lone-wolf model. He has had several run-ins with the law which were basically minor vehicular traffic[.] … He is a depraved coward is what he is. He was associated with ISIS and he was radicalized domestically and he’s a depraved coward.

Cuomo suggesting that Saipov is a social misfit, petty lawbreaker, and “depraved coward” is standard fare, trotted out by Democrats and parroted by the MSM after jihadist attacks here and abroad.  Was Saipov a coward?  He may have been depraved, but he was not yellow.  That these Columbine wannabes have Islam in common is just a remarkable coincidence.  That’s called the “willing suspension of disbelief.”

The governor gives a small nod to Saipov’s link to ISIS and his “radicalization domestically.”  How does Cuomo know the latter unless Saipov has been under surveillance?  If Saipov was under watch, then how did he get to rent a truck and kill in cold blood?  The governor needs to explain.

If Saipov didn’t bring his Muslim radicalism with him from Uzbekistan and was radicalized here, then how?  At his Paterson, New Jersey mosque?  Saipov, his wife, and his two kids occupy an apartment next to the mosque. 

Jihad Watch claims that the NYPD had the mosque under surveillance – until a “feminist Sharia Law advocate & liberal activist named Linda Sarsour” pressured the department to stop. 

Was Saipov’s radicalism sparked or fueled there?  What does Governor Cuomo know about it?

Was Saipov recruited via the internet?  If through the internet, then Saipov is no “lone wolf.”  The internet is an effective recruitment tool used by ISIS and other violent Muslim groups.  It’s a means in an asymmetric – that is, highly unconventional – war on the West. 

Cuomo had good reason to suggest that Saipov was radicalized here.  

New York senator Chuck Schumer, Cuomo’s fellow Democrat, is a principal backer of the “visa lottery” that gave Saipov U.S. entry.  Anyone who wins gets in.  Cuomo’s remark about Saipov being radicalized here stinks of tail-covering for Schumer. 

The requirements for visa lottery winners are minimal – high school education, basic work experience, all of which can be falsified.  Stringent documentation isn’t a hallmark of Uzbekistan, Syria, Pakistan – pick your Muslim country.  The visa lottery is more P.C. gimcrackery – but with an underlying serious political purpose.

Remarked President Trump in a November 1 tweet:

We are fighting hard for Merit Based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter).

Schumer’s support of the “Diversity Visa Lottery Program” isn’t about feel-good politics; it’s about constituency-building by Democrats.  Flooding the nation with immigrants – legal and non – is about swelling Democratic ranks – Latino, Muslim, third-world, it matters not.  Democrats’ efforts have been bolstered by establishment Republicans and business interests’ quest for cheap labor.  These interests act similarly to the Civil War’s Copperheads – Fifth Columns.

Cornered, Schumer – in a routinely shabby ploy – asserted that criticizing the visa lottery program is, in part, criticism of former president George H.W. Bush.  Bush signed a lottery measure authored by Ted Kennedy in 1990.  That was eleven years before 9/11.  Kennedy has been dead for eight years – so throw the dead Democrat under the bus.  It doesn’t absolve Schumer, who has pushed his own lottery initiative.

In light of the truck attack, Mayor Bill de Blasio voiced yet another Democrat talking point and smear, though he lacked Cuomo’s deftness.

The minute you start generalizing it – especially to a whole religion – then unfortunately we’re sending the exact negative message that a lot of our enemies want sent[.] … The terrorists want to affirm that this nation is somehow anti-Muslim. We’ve got to do the exact opposite.

The straw man in de Blasio’s statement is that an entire religion, Islam, is being impugned.  President Trump certainly didn’t do so.  It’s near religion among Democrats that Islam can’t possibly have any culpability in Muslim terrorist attacks.  The attackers couldn’t be acting in accord with the fundamentals of their faith.  Why, suggesting otherwise is religious bigotry – a curious assertion from increasingly secularist (godless) Democrats, whose contempt for Judeo-Christianity is barely concealed.

In the immediate aftermath of the Manhattan attack, P.J. Media’s Roger L. Simon wrote:

What most of us know – those who are even faintly honest anyway – is that Islam has a gigantic problem, the basis of which is that the so-called “radical” Islamists are actually practicing the fundamental version of their religion. What they do is approved, even required, by their holy texts.  Many of our liberals and progressives don’t know this – or don’t want to – but it’s the reality.  It is also the reason Muslim protest is so tepid and often focused on non-existent Islamophobia.

Defeating the Democrats to defeat the jihad means not being cowed by their ready accusations of bigotry.  State it boldly: Muslims – true to basic Islamic tenets – are maiming and killing innocents across the globe.

There are Muslims who recognize the need for thorough reform of Islam.  They aren’t many; many more are needed. 

Simon wrote:

Egypt’s president al-Sisi has admitted and confronted this ghastly problem, calling for reform of Islam, but our own politicians – either ignorant or pathetically politically correct – dare not say a word.  We would, they say, be interfering with Muslim nations.

Let’s take exception to Simon’s characterization of “our own politicians” being ignorant or woefully P.C.  Among Democratic Party leaders and activists, ignorance and naïve loyalty to P.C. aren’t the trouble.  The trouble is a worldview that holds Western civilization and the U.S. in contempt.  It’s cynical calculation: open borders that allow indiscriminate immigration serve Democrats’ political ends. 

The calculation goes: immigration that increases crime and terrorism is the price to pay to transform America and gain power. 

For Democrats, it’s cost versus benefits – and the benefits win. 

Tuesday in New York City, Sayfullo Saipov, a 29-year-old Uzbek immigrant and jihadist, plowed a rented truck into bicyclists and pedestrians, killing eight and seriously injuring “numerous” others.  The response from leading New York Democrats was sickeningly rote.  It was saturated with political correctness – hence, deceptive.  Deceptive, therefore cynical.  If not stopped, Democrats’ P.C. will keep killing Americans.

Democrats enable jihad on these shores.  Their worldview, policies, and steadfast denial of the long-term war being waged by Muslim fundamentalists are costing lives – San Bernardino, Orlando, now Manhattan, to name marquee attacks.  It puts Americans across the nation at risk daily.  It does so open-endedly.

Defeating the jihad means defeating Democrats, too.  Republicans forever express a desire for bipartisan solutions.  Surely there’s a way to unite with Democrats to counter and defeat this enemy!  Surely the hope is vain. 

The way to victory is to mobilize Americans other than Democrats against the jihad.  Social media and grassroots action allow pro-security and anti-jihad forces to bypass the mainstream media.  More is being done now on social media than at the grassroots.  It is time to step up grassroots efforts.  The alternative to the Democrats’ approach: clear vision, frank talk, tough policies, and relentless condemnation of the Democrats’ evasions and failures.  President Trump is showing the way.

New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, declared about Saipov’s attack, per the New York Post (emphasis added):

All the evidence we have is that he was a quote unquote lone-wolf model. He has had several run-ins with the law which were basically minor vehicular traffic[.] … He is a depraved coward is what he is. He was associated with ISIS and he was radicalized domestically and he’s a depraved coward.

Cuomo suggesting that Saipov is a social misfit, petty lawbreaker, and “depraved coward” is standard fare, trotted out by Democrats and parroted by the MSM after jihadist attacks here and abroad.  Was Saipov a coward?  He may have been depraved, but he was not yellow.  That these Columbine wannabes have Islam in common is just a remarkable coincidence.  That’s called the “willing suspension of disbelief.”

The governor gives a small nod to Saipov’s link to ISIS and his “radicalization domestically.”  How does Cuomo know the latter unless Saipov has been under surveillance?  If Saipov was under watch, then how did he get to rent a truck and kill in cold blood?  The governor needs to explain.

If Saipov didn’t bring his Muslim radicalism with him from Uzbekistan and was radicalized here, then how?  At his Paterson, New Jersey mosque?  Saipov, his wife, and his two kids occupy an apartment next to the mosque. 

Jihad Watch claims that the NYPD had the mosque under surveillance – until a “feminist Sharia Law advocate & liberal activist named Linda Sarsour” pressured the department to stop. 

Was Saipov’s radicalism sparked or fueled there?  What does Governor Cuomo know about it?

Was Saipov recruited via the internet?  If through the internet, then Saipov is no “lone wolf.”  The internet is an effective recruitment tool used by ISIS and other violent Muslim groups.  It’s a means in an asymmetric – that is, highly unconventional – war on the West. 

Cuomo had good reason to suggest that Saipov was radicalized here.  

New York senator Chuck Schumer, Cuomo’s fellow Democrat, is a principal backer of the “visa lottery” that gave Saipov U.S. entry.  Anyone who wins gets in.  Cuomo’s remark about Saipov being radicalized here stinks of tail-covering for Schumer. 

The requirements for visa lottery winners are minimal – high school education, basic work experience, all of which can be falsified.  Stringent documentation isn’t a hallmark of Uzbekistan, Syria, Pakistan – pick your Muslim country.  The visa lottery is more P.C. gimcrackery – but with an underlying serious political purpose.

Remarked President Trump in a November 1 tweet:

We are fighting hard for Merit Based immigration, no more Democrat Lottery Systems. We must get MUCH tougher (and smarter).

Education Jihad: Promoting Islam in American Schools


For decades, organizations and individuals have undermined our American education system by attacking our beliefs in a constitutional republic and our fundamental Judeo-Christian principles.  These have been supplanted with a “multicultural” viewpoint, which has taken the place of traditional American perspectives and values with accommodation and appeasement of protected minorities depicted as victims of the dominant culture.  Oil-rich Arab-Muslim nations, including Saudi Arabia and its Muslim Brotherhood cohorts, have used multiculturalism to target impressionable youths in our public schools, promote Islam, and advance Islamic political agendas.  Under the subterfuge of promoting a multicultural educational environment, these agents have replaced time-honored educational materials of American ideals and historical perspectives with anti-American, anti-Israel, anti-Judeo-Christian, and pro-Islamic rhetoric.

This re-engineering of the education system to disproportionately highlight the virtues and contributions of Islamic ideology is part of “civilizational jihad,” the enemy’s term for the subversion of our society.  It was defined in the 1991 Muslim Brotherhood document “An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America,” presented as evidence in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terrorism trial.  The document calls for the stealth takeover of North America through infiltration of all of society, with the ultimate goal of destroying the U.S. and turning it into a Muslim nation.

Over the past 40-plus years, this infiltration has occurred in education, with the Saudi royal family contributing billions in gifts and endowments to U.S. universities to spread anti-American and anti-Israel propaganda.  Through creation of Middle East studies centers at top institutions of higher learning, the Saudis have influenced curricula and textbook content.  Those involved include several Muslim Brotherhood affiliates and Islamist organizations, such as the Institute on Religion and Civil Values (formerly the Council on Islamic Education), the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Institute of Islamic Information and Education (IIIE), the International Institute for Islamic Thought (IIIT), Saudi-endowed Islamic and Middle East studies centers, and others.  Their activities within our public schools include seminars and training programs for teachers, textbook creation and editing, curriculum development, lesson plans, student worksheets, and instructional videos.

Saudi success comes mainly from exploitation of Title VI of the Higher Education Act, which authorizes federal grants to university programs, including Middle East studies centers.  Title VI grantees must produce outreach programs for our nation’s educators, and pro-Islamic organizations have attained legitimacy by partnering with top universities.  Using U.S. taxpayer-subsidized lesson plans and seminars for America’s K-12 teachers with the imprimatur of schools like Harvard, infiltrators easily integrated Islamic perspectives into the K-12 curriculum, avoiding  public vetting and government oversight.  Materials promoting Islam, denigrating Judaism and Christianity, and criticizing alleged American prejudice against the Muslim world insidiously made their way into American education.  Some of the materials in use go so far as to blame America for terrorism and decry prejudice against Muslims in the U.S.

One of the key teaching resources promoted by Harvard’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies outreach program was the controversial, propaganda-laden “Arab World Studies Notebook,” a factually incorrect textbook purported to promote “the Arab point of view.”  The text is almost devoid of citations and promotes a pro-Islam, Muslim-centric view of history.  According to a recent report by the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America (CAMERA), “Indoctrinating Our Youth: How a U.S. Public School Curriculum Skews the Arab-Israeli Conflict and Islam,” the widely used text erroneously cites Jerusalem as “an Arab city” and fails to acknowledge ancient Judaic and Christian ties to the Israeli capital.  It fallaciously claims that Islam’s ties are “equally long and much deeper,” even though Islam emerged only in the 7th century A.D.  The Jewish Telegraph Agency (JTA) noted that the “notebook” implies that Jews have undue impact on U.S. foreign policy and that Israel was created after American Jewish lobbying.  It also proposes the supremacy of Islam and denigrates beliefs held by Jews and Christians, suggesting that the Quran “synthesizes and perfects earlier revelations.”

Meanwhile, a key Islamic educational textbook author has been Muslim convert Susan Douglass.  A principal researcher and writer for the Institute on Religion and Civil Values (IRCV), Douglass was also an educational consultant for the Saudi-funded Georgetown University Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding and a member of the editorial board of the Muslim Brotherhood’s ISNA.  The IIIT, created expressly to influence higher education, teachers, and textbooks, published books written by Douglass used in American schools.  Douglass reviewed world history textbooks of three major publishers – McGraw Hill, Houghton Mifflin, and Prentice Hall – and was allowed to present a view promoting Islam and in accordance with IRCV recommendations.  Douglass and the IRCV have had a major impact on the textbook presentation of Islam, minimizing its violent aspects and making the ideology attractive to non-Muslim children.  Douglass was also instrumental in developing standards for teaching religion in public schools and providing teacher and curriculum guidelines.

Douglas and her husband previously taught at the Islamic Saudi Academy in Alexandria, Virginia, dubbed “Terror High” by some media outlets.  In 2007, the school was found in violation of federal law by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) for using discriminatory materials that teach students to “hate” Jews, Christians, and other “unbelievers” and that espouse violent jihad as a religious duty for Muslims.

The organization for which Douglass has been an author, the Institute on Religion and Civic Values, is a national non-profit with a mission “to support and strengthen American public education” by drawing on “civic, ethical and educational principles in Islam.”  The group’s leadership and collaborators are connected to Muslim Brotherhood organizations such as IIIT, CAIR, and the Muslim American Society (MAS), among others.  IRCV focuses on portraying a positive view of Islam in K-12 education and vetting textbooks.  It developed a curriculum manual for students to “simulate becoming Muslims”; was instrumental in minimizing the teaching of Judaism, Christianity, and other faiths; and changed the educational approach in many schools from informational teaching on Islam to indoctrination and proselytizing.

Meanwhile, yet another organization, The Institute of Islamic Information and Education, an ISNA branch, began in Chicago as far back as1985 to convey the Islamic message throughout North America, open non-Muslims to Islam, and “remove fabricated materials from circulation.”  It evaluates educational materials for their portrayal of Islam and monitors books, publishers, authors, and school districts for anything deemed “misinformation” and “misperceptions” of Islam and Muslims.  The institute also produces and distributes dawa booklets and videos.

In 2011 in the Newton, Massachusetts school district, the Muslim push came to a head.  Parents expressed concern about divergence from factual, objective accounts of history and current events, as well as one-sided materials designed to indoctrinate students in specific political agendas.  Research by Newton parents revealed that the concept of jihad was presented solely as an inner personal struggle of spiritual discipline and not the predominant, traditional obligation to wage war in Allah’s name and bring the world under Islam.  Texts presented Islam as peaceful and tolerant.  Parents found that Islam received significantly more study time than was devoted to the avowed “false beliefs” of Christianity and Judaism.  Parental complaints about the controversial curriculum were characterized by school officials as “McCarthyesque.”  School officials accused parents of jeopardizing academic freedom and defended the materials.

CAMERA examined the materials and concurred that textbooks and lesson plans focused on teaching students about Islam and presenting foundational Islamic beliefs, historical Islamic expansion, and the so-called Islamic “Golden Age.”  Missing were negative aspects of Islamic history and societal practices, including the extensive and longstanding Arab-Muslim slave trade, honor killings, stoning of accused adulteresses, and treatment of women as property.  Muslim women were falsely claimed to have more autonomy than Western women, and extensive Muslim bigotry in the U.S. was presented.  Terrorism was falsely described as a deviation and misinterpretation of the tenets of the faith.  CAMERA published a monograph on its findings, further alarming parents with the many anti-American, anti-Judeo-Christian, pro-Islamic materials existent within the Newton school district.

Another Islamic indoctrination program, “Access Islam,” has been instituted in various school systems nationwide.  Produced with assistance from Shabbir Mansuri, founding director of IRCV, and CAIR-affiliated Debbie Almontaser, and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, “Access Islam” teaches students how to follow the five pillars of Islam and instills the belief that Allah is G-d.  According to the Christian Action Network (CAN), students must learn and interpret verses from the Quran.  A video features a Christian convert to Islam who jubilantly explains how he now worships the one true G-d, in a direct slam against Christianity and Judaism.  Wherever “Access Islam” is presented, similar programs are not provided on Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, or any other religion.

All of the school programs cited above represent a multi-pronged approach to destroy Western civilization and impose an Islamist worldview through university endowments, educator indoctrination, and development of history textbooks and curricula for K-12 students.  Under the guise of teaching history and promoting multiculturalism, American students are indoctrinated in the supremacy of Islam above all other faiths.  In several cases, federal courts have upheld the right of public schools to indoctrinate students in the Muslim religion and its spiritual practices, categorically denying the same privilege to Christian doctrine.  In light of this doctrinal push, parents must be vigilant and steadfast as stewards of their children’s educational and moral development.  Schools and administrators must be held accountable.

When President Trump recently presented the 2018 budget, he recognized Title VI as a vehicle to promote anti-American, anti-Israel, and pro-Islamic propaganda and eliminated its funding.  It remains to be seen if Congress implements his request and eliminates this insidious program.

Meanwhile, yet another organization, The Institute of Islamic Information and Education, an ISNA branch, began in Chicago as far back as1985 to convey the Islamic message throughout North America, open non-Muslims to Islam, and “remove fabricated materials from circulation.”  It evaluates educational materials for their portrayal of Islam and monitors books, publishers, authors, and school districts for anything deemed “misinformation” and “misperceptions” of Islam and Muslims.  The institute also produces and distributes dawa booklets and videos.

In 2011 in the Newton, Massachusetts school district, the Muslim push came to a head.  Parents expressed concern about divergence from factual, objective accounts of history and current events, as well as one-sided materials designed to indoctrinate students in specific political agendas.  Research by Newton parents revealed that the concept of jihad was presented solely as an inner personal struggle of spiritual discipline and not the predominant, traditional obligation to wage war in Allah’s name and bring the world under Islam.  Texts presented Islam as peaceful and tolerant.  Parents found that Islam received significantly more study time than was devoted to the avowed “false beliefs” of Christianity and Judaism.  Parental complaints about the controversial curriculum were characterized by school officials as “McCarthyesque.”  School officials accused parents of jeopardizing academic freedom and defended the materials.

CAMERA examined the materials and concurred that textbooks and lesson plans focused on teaching students about Islam and presenting foundational Islamic beliefs, historical Islamic expansion, and the so-called Islamic “Golden Age.”  Missing were negative aspects of Islamic history and societal practices, including the extensive and longstanding Arab-Muslim slave trade, honor killings, stoning of accused adulteresses, and treatment of women as property.  Muslim women were falsely claimed to have more autonomy than Western women, and extensive Muslim bigotry in the U.S. was presented.  Terrorism was falsely described as a deviation and misinterpretation of the tenets of the faith.  CAMERA published a monograph on its findings, further alarming parents with the many anti-American, anti-Judeo-Christian, pro-Islamic materials existent within the Newton school district.

Another Islamic indoctrination program, “Access Islam,” has been instituted in various school systems nationwide.  Produced with assistance from Shabbir Mansuri, founding director of IRCV, and CAIR-affiliated Debbie Almontaser, and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, “Access Islam” teaches students how to follow the five pillars of Islam and instills the belief that Allah is G-d.  According to the Christian Action Network (CAN), students must learn and interpret verses from the Quran.  A video features a Christian convert to Islam who jubilantly explains how he now worships the one true G-d, in a direct slam against Christianity and Judaism.  Wherever “Access Islam” is presented, similar programs are not provided on Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, or any other religion.

All of the school programs cited above represent a multi-pronged approach to destroy Western civilization and impose an Islamist worldview through university endowments, educator indoctrination, and development of history textbooks and curricula for K-12 students.  Under the guise of teaching history and promoting multiculturalism, American students are indoctrinated in the supremacy of Islam above all other faiths.  In several cases, federal courts have upheld the right of public schools to indoctrinate students in the Muslim religion and its spiritual practices, categorically denying the same privilege to Christian doctrine.  In light of this doctrinal push, parents must be vigilant and steadfast as stewards of their children’s educational and moral development.  Schools and administrators must be held accountable.

When President Trump recently presented the 2018 budget, he recognized Title VI as a vehicle to promote anti-American, anti-Israel, and pro-Islamic propaganda and eliminated its funding.  It remains to be seen if Congress implements his request and eliminates this insidious program.
