One moderate senator stayed behind and got a hug from President Trump after his joint address to Congress, after most Democrats quickly left the House chamber at the end of his speech.
As Trump began making his way out of the room, he stopped to give Sen. Joe Manchin, a moderate Democrat from West Virginia, a hug, pat on the back and a handshake.
During Trump’s speech, Manchin could be seen giving Trump a standing ovation when the president talked about stopping the Obama-era environmental regulations impacting the coal-mining industry, which is a significant part of West Virginia’s economy.
