President Trump launched his rally Saturday in Florida with an attack on the free press, saying that he held the rally partly to speak to the people “without the filter of fake news.”

Building on remarks he made on Twitter Friday night disparaging the press, Trump said that the media is a big part of the program with an “agenda” not in line with the agenda of his supporters.

“The dishonest media which has published one false story after another with no sources even though they pretend they have them, they make them up in many cases, they just don’t’ want to report the truth,” he said. “They are part of the corrupt system.”

Trump also hit the media for not showing the crowd size at the rally, a comment he regularly made during the campaign. CNN, however, did show crowd shots, including when Trump said how much support he has among women.

Several “Trump 2020” signs were spotted in the crowd at the campaign-style rally.

Asked ahead of the event if it’s too early to begin campaigning for the next term, Trump said “life is a campaign.”

“Making our country great again is a campaign. For me, it’s a campaign. To make America great again is absolutely a campaign. It’s not easy, especially when we’re also fighting the press,” he told press pool reporters.
