The Venezuelan government on Wednesday cut off CNN’s Spanish-language programming.

It did so after what the government called “direct aggressions” against the country, according to the Associated Press.

The move to cut off CNN comes after Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro said that he wanted CNN out of the country.

“CNN, do not get into the affairs of Venezuelans,” Maduro said Sunday, according to reports.

“I want CNN well away from here. Outside of Venezuela. Do not put your nose in Venezuela.”

Maduro was reacting to a report CNN had published that said officials in Venezuela’s embassy in Iraq have sold passports and visas to suspected terrorists.

Freedom House, a nonprofit that advocates for press freedom around the globe, ranked Venezuela’s press freedom status in 2016 as “not free.”
