Left-leaning groups are planning to demonstrate outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday after President Trump selects a nominee to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia.

The Center for American Progress, the Alliance for Justice, People for the American Way and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights are preparing to gather one hour after Trump makes his decision in protest.

“If [Trump] picks a nominee who is as extreme as he has indicated, activists will gather at the Supreme Court at 9 p.m. calling on senators to stand up for the Constitution and reject the nominee,” reads an advisory distributed by the Alliance for Justice. “Activists will make clear that the Senate cannot confirm a nominee who will simply be a rubber stamp for President Trump’s anti-constitutional efforts that betray American values.”

The planned demonstration on Tuesday night will likely set the tone for left-leaning opposition to Trump’s selection in the run-up to the nominee’s confirmation proceedings.
