President George W. Bush plans to attend the swearing-in ceremony for President-elect Trump on Jan. 20, a spokesman for the 43rd president said Tuesday.

According to a statement, the former president and his wife, Laura, “are pleased to be able to witness the peaceful transfer of power” and thus plan to participate in the inaugural ceremonies for the incoming Republican president.

Bush declined to vote for Trump or defeated Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election.
