Taxpayers spent more than $96 million on President Obama and his family’s travel during his eight years in office, a total that could well exceed $100 million before the end of Obama’s presidency.

The president’s high-price trips included a $1 million jaunt to the Everglades for a global warming speech, a $222,000 ski trip in Aspen taken by his wife and daughters and a $450,000 flight to a family vacation in Martha’s Vineyard this summer, conservative watchdog Judicial Watch announced Thursday.

The group had filed Freedom of Information Act lawsuits for requests it made to the Secret Service seeking documentation of the Obama family’s travel.

Judicial Watch has kept a running tally of Obama’s travel expenditures by filing FOIA requests for the taxpayer money spent on Air Force One and Secret Service arrangements.

“The Obamas notorious abuse of presidential travel perks wasted military resources and stressed the Secret Service,” Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, said in a statement. “Judicial Watch estimates that the final costs of Obama’s unnecessary vacation and political travel will well exceed $100 million.”
