President-elect Trump praised House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday in Wisconsin, where the Badger State Republican drew boos from a crowd on his home turf.

“Speaker Paul Ryan, I’ve really come to appreciate him,” Trump said during a “thank you” rally in West Allis, Wisc. His mention of Ryan, who became a target for firebrand conservatives on the campaign trail, drew jeers from the audience.

“He has been, I’ll tell you, he has been terrific,” Trump said.

“You know, honestly, he’s like a fine wine,” Trump said. “Every day goes by, I get to appreciate his genius more and more.”

“Now, if he ever goes against me, I’m not going to say that,” Trump added.

The president-elect promised he and Ryan had “amazing things in store” in the coming Congress, including tax reform and the repeal and replacement of Obamacare.

“We’re going to work on the wall, Paul,” Trump said.

Ryan has said he has spoken with Trump frequently since his electoral victory last month. The two have sung each others’ praises and vowed to work closely when Trump takes office, a big shift from the tensions that strained their relationship during the presidential campaign.
