An “unconventional situation” and the holiday season are what a top Trump aide is blaming for the delay of President-elect Trump’s planned news conference on Thursday to discuss the future of his businesses while he serves as president.

During a CNN interview Monday evening, Kellyanne Conway said the event will be delayed “a few weeks,” as the Trump Organization decides the best organizing structure for the Trump organization going forward, which will include the transfer of power of Trump’s business to his adult children: Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric.

The exact new date for the planned news conference has not been announced.

“It’s a very unconventional situation,” Conway said, saying typically an incoming president is simply a politician moving from one political job to another. “There is no reason to rush that if the procedures are not ready,” she added.

She also attributed the “very minor delay” to “the fact that there are holidays in between now and the end of the year.”

“The same questions that will be asked and the same answers that will be provided will just be delayed a few weeks,” Conway said.
