President-elect Trump is expected to pick Ronna Romney McDaniel as the next chairman of the Republican National Committee, two sources confirmed to the Washington Examiner on Friday evening.

McDaniel leads the Michigan Republican Party. She would replace RNC chairman Reince Priebus, who has been selected for White House staff as chief of staff.

McDaniel will attend Trump’s “thank you” rally in Grand Rapids, Mich., later Friday, where the president-elect could announce the news. The RNC’s 168 members will officially vote on whomever Trump chooses at their January meeting.

McDaniel is no stranger to the conservative political scene. She is the niece of 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and is well-connected to Priebus.
