President-elect Trump promised to “prime the pump” economically by slashing taxes for the middle class, vowing to bring jobs back during a “thank you” rally in Des Moines, Iowa on Thursday.

“We want the next generation of innovation and production to happen right here in America and right here in Iowa,” Trump said.

“It’s time to help Americans get off the welfare and get back into the labor market, and they’re going to want to do it,” he added, pledging to deliver jobs to rural communities and inner cities.

On the heels of his controversial selection of Scott Pruitt to lead his EPA, Trump drew cheers from the packed stadium by referencing his plan to roll back President Obama’s environmental regulations.

“We are going to end the EPA intrusion into your lives,” Trump said. “On energy, we will cancel the job-killing restrictions on the production of American energy.”

On the third stop of his “thank you” tour through the states that delivered him the presidency, thanked Iowa Sens. Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst for their unwavering support for his candidacy.

“We don’t like people that waver,” Trump said.

Trump also touted his selection of Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad to serve as his ambassador to China, saying he hoped to improve relations with China with the appointment.

“They haven’t been playing by the rules, and they know it’s time that they’re going to start,” Trump said.
