Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani enjoyed a lighter moment with the media inside President-elect Trump’s Manhattan headquarters on Wednesday, knocking Bill de Blasio for not eating pizza like a New Yorker.

Giuliani entered Trump Tower shortly after 7:30 p.m. local time, just as five 18-inch New York pizza pies and other food from Angelo’s were delivered to the transition team upstairs, he confirmed to the press pool.

The Trump surrogate, who later headed to a bar inside the building, said he would not get to have any pizza, but was happy he “got to smell it.”

Giuliani then motioned the cutting of a slice of pizza with a knife and eating it with a fork.

“I’d also like to make clear that I eat pizza this way, not with a knife and fork,” Giuliani said, knocking his Democratic successor for how he was caught eating the Italian food months earlier. Many New Yorkers prefer to eat a slice by folding the crust in half and using two hands to eat it.

De Blasio visited Trump earlier in the day. The two spoke for more than an hour and de Blasio said the conversation was focused on New Yorkers’ concerns about the president-elect’s controversial policy views and rhetoric.
