One person is dead and at least 10 others have been injured after a natural-gas explosion rocked downtown Canton, Ill, on Wednesday evening, according to reports.
Local police said the explosion took place around the downtown square and damaged several buildings nearby. Engineers are on site looking into the incident.
Approximately 11 people were taken to the hospital where one person died from injuries sustained in the explosion, according to WLS.
People have been urged not to visit the downtown area and surrounding streets remain closed at 10 p.m. CST.

Canton is located 190 miles southwest of Chicago and had a population of around 14,000 people in the 2010 census.
