President-elect Donald Trump is reportedly exploring the process of getting top secret security clearances for his grown children, who are playing an instrumental role in his transition to the presidency.

Trump transition officials have asked the White House to determine whether the incoming Republican president’s children could gain access to classified information at his discretion, CBS News reported Monday evening.

In order for Ivanka, Eric and Don Jr. to receive security clearances, their father would have to name all of them to his team of national security advisers. Such a move would establish an unprecedented relationship between a president and members of his immediate family.

The White House currently prohibits family members of the president from working in the executive branch, though the Trump children would not need to have an official role within their father’s administration in order to obtain top secret clearances.

All three children, but not Trump’s youngest daughter Tiffany and his son Barron, currently serve on the president-elect’s transition team and advised him throughout his general election campaign.

Trump has also appointed his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, to assist him with his transition and was reportedly considering Kushner for chief-of-staff before ultimately choosing Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus for the position.

Ivanka Trump told CBS’ Lesley Stahl in an interview on Sunday that she is “very passionate about certain issues,” but does not intend to join her father’s administration in any capacity.

She and her two brothers are expected to take over the Trump Organization once their father enters the Oval Office.
